MNA District 6 - Jackson, George, and Greene Counties

President - Terrie Gore, 3131 W. Rollins St., Moss Point, MS 39563-3746

Mississippi Nurses Association District 6 in strives to stay active in current events. Such events include monthly meetings which begin each year in September and continue through June. We also provide Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for presentations by expert speakers in the community including local physicians & nurses. These CEU's are free of charge to our members for the purpose of helping our local nurses stay up to date in their practice.

Although District 6 did not organize a local Nurse of the Year in 2006 due to hurricane recovery, we annually ask for nominations from our district nurses for outstanding local nurses in our community, and recognize them at an annual banquet. Along with recognition of our outstanding nurses, we also provide recognition gifts to the graduating nurses from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC).

Each year we have a legislative update to which we invite a representative from MNA to speak on political issues related to nursing and practice. We also ask our local legislators to attend so that our community nurses can obtain answers for any questions relating to both their nursing practice and their community.

Past events:

  • Local blood drives
  • Historical Nursing display at the local library during Nurses Week.
  • Joint Heath Fair with District #5
  • MNA District 6 Cook Book

Although our numbers are diminished since the event of Hurricane Katrina, we continue to send nurses to our state convention and continuing our CEU meetings. Consider joining District 6 and help us make a difference.
