MNA District 7

District 7 includes the counties of Covington, Forrest, Lamar, Perry, Jefferson Davis and Marion. The purpose of our district is to foster high standards of nursing, stimulate and promote professional development of nurses, work for the improvement of health standards and protect the professional environment of nurses. Our officers currently include a president (Michelle Williams), first vice president (Janice Armstrong), second vice president (Pauline McGee), Secretary (Bettye Logan), and Treasurer (Raylawni Branch). Our district also has an Executive Board which currently includes the following members: Teresa Favre, Josie McKorkle, Wanda Dubuisson and Sylvia Roberts.

We meet every other month, excluding the summer months. Our meeting locations rotate from Forrest General Hospital, Wesley Medical Center, University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. Each year, our district sponsors "pizza lunch" meetings with the student nurses from the two universities to encourage MNA membership after graduation. This year, district 7 participated in the "Know Your Numbers" campaign and sponsored a free Health Fair at Turtle Creek Mall on May 6th in Hattiesburg. Over 200 blood pressures were obtained, 20 cholesterol screens were given away for door prizes, Nurse Appreciation T-shirts were sold, and an Honorary Wall for Nurses was displayed to showcase local nurses who were recognized in the past year for various award recognitions.
