Mississippi Nurses Foundation set for wine tasting
April 11, 2007
The Mississippi Nurses Foundation has set the stage for its first Wine Tasting from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Monday, April 16 at Alexander's Italian Restaurant, 1896 Main Street in Madison.
Funds raised from this event will be used for scholarships for nursing students, as well as to expand the Foundation's hand washing pilot project to 11 schools and/or school nurses across the state for the 2007 fall semester.
The Nurses Foundation is honored to have Chef Cat Cora, the only female Iron Chef, participate in this event. She has appeared on several television shows, published two cookbooks, and co-founded Chefs for Humanity. Chef Cora will be signing her newest cookbook, Cooking from the Hip (available for purchase) from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
"We are expecting a terrific turn out and have an outstanding event planned," said Charlotte Cockrell, Executive Director of the Foundation. "Guests will have the opportunity to sample several types of wine and enjoy the delicious hors d' oeuvres."
Dr. Kaye Bender, dean of the University of Mississippi School of Nursing, will entertain. "Our featured silent auction item will be an autographed chef's jacket, donated by Chef Cora, along with both of her cookbooks," Cockrell said.
Only 150 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $50 per person. To order, contact the Nurses Foundation at (601) 898-0850 or foundation@msnurses.org.
