Responsibilities of the Council on Nursing Practice
The council shall be concerned with advancing the practice of nursing which relate to the scope of standards of nursing practice; the ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice; the practice of individual nurses; trends for improvement of health care with nursing practice implications.

The director of the Council, with approval of the Board of Directors, shall identify emerging practice issues; establish an ad hoc task force to address specific practice issues and report its findings to the board, nominate qualified members with experience in the area of practice at issue to the ad hoc task force for appointment by the board; identify emerging ethical and/or human rights issues and those related to proposed legislation; establish an ad hoc task force to address a specific ethical and/or human rights issue and report its findings to the board, and, if appropriate, to the Health Affairs Committee, and nominate qualified members with expertise in ethical and human rights issues to the task force for appointment by the board.
