Melissa H. King, DNP, FNP-BC, ENP-BC

Melissa King, DNP, FNP-BC, ENP-BC took home the 2019 Nurse of Distinction Award at the 2019 Nightingale Awards co-hosted by MNA and MNF. 

Dr. King serves as the President of the Mississippi Board of Nursing.  She has worked tirelessly to promote and improve safe nursing practice in Mississippi. 

Dr. King is the Chief Clinical Officer for eMD Telehealth Solutions. She has been instrumental in implementing multiple programs throughout the southern region related to telehealth service that have enhanced clinical practice.  Dr. King has made an enormous impact in Mississippi and the entire Southern region through her knowledge and passion in the area of telehealth.   

Elizabeth “Libby” Mahaffey, PhD, RN, FAADN

Elizabeth “Libby” Mahaffey, PhD, RN, FAADN was inducted into the Mississippi Nurses’ Association Hall of Fame at the 2019 Nightingale Awards co-hosted by MNA and MNF. 

Dr. Mahaffey is the Dean for Nursing and Allied Health at Hinds Community College. Dr. Mahaffey’s vast array of knowledge and commitment to the profession of nursing and nursing education has made her a much sought-after consultant and presenter. 

She made her mark on nursing education at the local, state, and national levels.  Dr. Mahaffey has served as the Commissioner for Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing; National State Boards of Nursing, Practice, Education, Regulation and Congruence Task Force; Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Practice and Education Consortium; Chair of the Mississippi Council of Deans and Directors of Schools of Nursing, as well as numerous other positions.
